Kohl Children's Museum

Kids love bugs - and Anderson Pest Solutions loves kids. So it's only natural that APS would team up with the Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview to help kids learn more about the fascinating world of insects.

Mark O'Hara, President of Anderson, is excited about the new partnership. "When people think about pest management companies like Anderson, they tend to think about ants and termites - all the bugs you just want to get out of your house. But our knowledge of the insect world goes far beyond simple household pests. The relationship with the Kohl Museum is a way for us to share some of what we've learned. And, as Tom and Mark will be showing the kids, it's pretty cool stuff."

Tom Dobrinska, Anderson's Training Director and staff entomologist, and Mark Mayer, Anderson Service Specialist and Chief Bug Keeper, will be visiting the Kohl Museum throughout the year, bringing along some of their unusual insect friends for children to experience up close. "It's great to be able to show the kids some of these really interesting creatures that they wouldn't ordinarily see in this part of the country," said Tom, who added, "Some of the bugs, like the hissing cockroaches or the vinegaroon, may look a little scary at first, but none of them are dangerous."

Anderson will be sponsoring the Kohl Insect Zoo throughout the summer.

Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago is located in The Glen in Glenview, Illinois at 2100 Patriot Boulevard. The Museum provides 17 hands-on, interactive exhibits designed to promote learning through play for children up to age 8. Exhibits include Dominick's Supermarket, Water Works, Music Makers, Pet Vet, Discovery Maze, and the new 2-acre outdoor exhibit Habitat Park. Cafe and museum store on site.
